Description

Connecting Spaces Hong Kong-Zurich and the Zurich University of the Arts are happy to feature in two events at the Art Basel Hong Kong 2016. One of which is “Acentered: Reterritorised Network of European and Chinese Moving Image”, which is part of Videotage’s Showcase at the Crowdfunding Lab at the Art Basel Show in Hong Kong.

A selection of 6 videos handpicked by the Head of Specialization Photography, Bachelor of Arts in Media & Art, Dr. Jörg Scheller, will be showcased. This selection of films comprises works from the BA in Art & Media and MFA students at the Zurich University of the Arts, focusing on two recurrent aspects within students and graduates’ works: locality and body. Within this selection, Dr Scheller mainly opted for films characterised by an inconspicuous, subtle and concise aesthetic. Some of them allude to political or social questions by means of what Ernest Hemingway called the “iceberg principle”: a hint is sometimes stronger than a hit… The material was shot in public and private spaces in Austria (by Chantal Kaufmann), Switzerland (by Ana Hofmann, Valérie Reding, Miriam Rutherford, and Julia Schicker), as well as Italy (by Marco Fedele di Catrano).
